Dear Dalmatian Enthusiasts,
We are all aware of the life threatening condition of Urinary Stones in our beloved breed, the Dalmatian. There have been countless articles written, diets developed and advice dispensed to concerned owners. The DCA Web site has considerable valuable information available on this subject but more research is needed.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Dalmatian Club of America Foundation, Inc.'s Board fully understands the urgency in the need to address this issue. They have approved the funding of a study titled "Studies on Urate Urothiasis in Dalmatians" being conducted at the University of Tennessee by Dr. Joseph Bartges. The total cost of this worthy study is $59,684.00.
The first part of the study is to examine the prevalence of urate kidney stones in Dalmatians with a history of urate bladder stones. The second part is to develop a web-based on-line survey of owners of Dalmatians that have formed urate stones to identify how effective preventative measures are, to determine recurrence rates of urate stones in Dalmatians, and to identify areas that require improvement.
We urge you to become a "Supporter of Urinary Stone Research" by sending a tax-deductible contribution in the envelope enclosed. All donors from regular to platinum will receive a certificate acknowledging their donation and their names will be published in the SPOTTER and on the DCAF web site.
Your donation will also go towards advancing your DCAF participation level, such as Donor to Grand Donor or Grand Donor to Patron.
I thank you in advance for helping to finance this expensive but necessary project.
Sincerely,
Robert B Lawson
